About Me

My name is Nicole Myles and I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with children and their parents in what I believe is the hardest job – parenting!

It takes real courage and sacrifice to reach out and ask for help. Whether you are looking to help yourself or your child, this process brings up many unwanted and challenging feelings. My hope is to support you and/or your child to look inward and navigate these emotions and identify the feelings that have been getting in the way. Instead of avoiding these feelings, we will work together to process them with the ultimate goal of experiencing real change, for yourself and your relationships. Together we will create a parenting approach that will work for your child’s most challenging behaviours.

My Approach

I primarily work from an Emotion Focused Therapeutic (EFT) and Emotion Focused Skills Training (EFST) approach: I also utilize several other theoretical frameworks and models of change, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy and I utilize various techniques and strategies from mindfulness based practices

  • My goal is to support children and teens and young adults in identifying and processing their emotions by helping them to develop self-regulation and self-awareness skills

  • I assist parents by enhancing their emotion skills, utilizing their motivation and tuning into their parenting wisdom.

  • I support families by utilizing attachment based and emotion focused interventions to strengthen the bond between child and parent. After all, parents are the experts in their children’s lives; the therapist is just a guest.

  • As a trained Emotion Focused Therapist, Nicole offers supervision and teaches how to facilitate EFT in a therapist's own practice.

  • I co-facilitate a two-day intensive workshop which supports parents to “assess and address” their child’s big emotions. Utilizing an Emotion Focused Therapeutic approach, we challenge parents to look underneath their child’s behaviours and connect to their emotion brains. This workshop will help parents support their children to self-regulate, improve communication and connection, repair relationships, explore boundary setting and support parents to feel more confident in their role as a caregiver.
